This weekend we celebrate Easter, and that means…amongst other important things, that a lot of chocolate is going to get eaten...Alongside the usual church-going and joyous family feasts that will undoubtedly occur all over the world, there is lots of activity going on within local communities this Easter. So we’ve gathered together some of the fantastic local events going on this Easter in Lewisham, including local fairs, Easter egg trails, treasure hunts and even an Easter themed disco party! We’ve also got some fantastic local businesses offering special Easter treats that are not worth missing out on. So here’s our guide of what to do and where to get it in Lewisham this Easter…
Horniman Easter Fair - Saturday 26 & Sunday 27 March 2016 - Forest Hill
A trip to the Horniman Museum and Gardens is a cracking day out at any time of the year, but when there’s chocolate, an Easter bunny, and a bustling market of food and arts & crafts involved, you really don’t want to be missing out…The Horniman Easter Fair is the perfect day out for families and friends to enjoy some amazing local events and produce over the Easter weekend.
The Easter Egg Trail will be kicking things off at 10:30am, and will require a keen eye and a strong desire for chocolate. This is promptly followed by the Horniman Bunny, who is set to emerge at 11am, and will be hopping around the gardens every 90 minutes from there on in. He’ll be waiting at the sound garden for anyone who wants to accompany him on his tour…Families can then get creative with the Chirpy Chick making challenge. Make your own Chirpy Chicks to take home and go with your chocolate Easter eggs, (though i’m sure they won’t last very long!) The weekly Farmer’s Market will be running as usual on Saturday 26th, but with extended opening hours (9am-4pm) selling locally sourced, locally sold vegetables, meat, bread, flowers, hot food and much more. The Arts and Crafts Market will be going on over the weekend from 10:30am-4:30pm and is offering a wealth of unique gifts from over 20 different stall holders.
